Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to suspend other expenditures except ‘essential areas’ till the return of good days after overcoming the crisis of Covid-19 epidemic.

He gave this instruction while addressing the first phase meeting of the Armed Forces Electoral Board 2020 on Monday morning.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the meeting of the Armed Forces Electoral Board by connecting with the Army Headquarters, Naval Headquarters and Air Force Headquarters of Dhaka Cantonment through video conference from Ganobhaban.

The Prime Minister said, “Except that it is very necessary, we will postpone other expenses for the time being. If good times come, we will. ”

The head of government said, “We are doing as much as we can. For which in the budget but we did not give less money. But everyone has to spend a little more when it comes to spending because we have budget allocations but in this economic situation we have to calculate how much money we can collect and how much we can spend from now on.

“I will make that request to everyone, I will also tell my armed forces – the three forces. How much we can afford to pay is also a matter. Except that it is very necessary, we will postpone other expenses for the time being. If good times come, we will. ”

The Prime Minister said, “Despite Corona, we have given our budget. This budget but to be honest I don’t know how much we can do in the future. But my point is, we have given the budget in a very natural way. We have given the budget, we have set a goal. Inside it as much as we can achieve.

“If the global recession continues or worsens, we may not be able to. But I can’t go back because I can’t. ”

Sheikh Hasina said, “We will have arrangements, preparations and we will do as much as we can. This is our goal. Our goal in Mujib’s year was to make Bangladesh poverty free. We will achieve 7.2 percent growth in Bangladesh – that was our goal.

“As of April, we have achieved 7.6 percent. But due to the corona’s push, it has come down to 5.6 percent. Even then, we have continued our efforts. ”

Talking about the increase in reserves even during the epidemic, the Prime Minister said, “Many people think that we cannot hold the reserves. By the grace of God, our reserves have increased. We now have a reserve of 39.4 billion US dollars. Our remittances are also coming. We have given incentives there. ”
Stating that the government is working properly to ensure food security, Sheikh Hasina said, “Today, there is a global economic downturn for Corona. There is a food crisis. In that case we are taking some steps because we were very vigilant from the beginning. In any case, there should be no shortage of food in our country.

“We do not have all the means to subsidize agricultural work and agriculture, to co-operate and to ensure food production. On the one hand, we are confident that there will be no food crisis. By the grace of God. We will not allow that crisis to happen. ”

The Prime Minister said, “Food security is the most important thing. He sleeps on his back while playing on his stomach. We want to ensure that food security. Besides, we have given various incentive packages to keep the economic activities of the country active. ”

He called on people from all walks of life to cultivate every inch of land in the country, saying “one inch of land should not remain uncultivated or any wetland should not fall.”
